Giving

Support PPC

Giving your tithe to the church is an important act of worship and a way to support the mission and ministry of Palisades Presbyterian Church. When we give, we are placing our trust and faith in God, acknowledging that everything we have comes from God in the first place. It’s a demonstration of our obedience to God’s commandment and an act of showing gratitude for all the blessings we have received.

Your financial offerings fund local and international outreach, Sunday school, other fellowship opportunities, care for those in our congregation who need support, Sunday service, staff salaries, and, yes, the electric bill. Our giving allows for PPC to be a beacon of hope and love for those in need around us.

Thank you for the variety of ways you help support the work at Palisades Presbyterian Church.

Ways To Contribute

  • Place your contribution in the Sunday morning offering plate (a tithe envelope or assigned number ensures verification for a tax write-off).

  • Deliver or mail it to the church at any time: 6301 Birchwood Street, San Diego, CA 92120.

  • Give through your bank’s BillPay function. (Please ask your bank about this feature. PPC does not set this up for you.)

  • Donate up to $100,000 tax free directly through your IRA distribution, if you are 70½ years of age or older; contact the church office for the PPC banking information and nonprofit certification.

  • Give online through our safe and easy PayPal link. We ask that, if you use PayPal, you include the PayPal fee (2.9% of the donation) in your contribution, so the church isn’t charged. Thank you!

  • Give free through Zelle using your banking app or the Zelle App. Use contact@palisadespres.org to donate.

Palisades Endowment Funds

The purpose of the Endowment Fund (EF) is to assist Palisades and its mission by funding special needs and projects over and above normal operating expenses. There are two active endowment funds.  Only 50% of investment earnings may be spent from these two funds. Requests for funds must meet the terms and conditions set forth in the EF Standing Rules. All expenditures must be approved by the Session.

The two active endowment funds are:

       1. Palisades Endowment Fund (Purposes: Mission/Outreach; Christian Education (CE); Capital Building/Non-budgeted Maintenance projects)

       2. Palisades Children’s Endowment Fund (Purpose: Needy Children)

When Shall I Give?

There are many occasions when gratitude inspires a practical response, considering the blessings God has given us:

  • Gifts can be made to honor birthdays, anniversaries, major accomplishments, loved ones, or just a bountiful year.

  • Deferred gifts may be designated for eventual endowment while the donor receives income for life.

  • Gifts may also be made through a will or living trust. Wills and trusts are ways to perpetuate your Christian influence and protect your heirs—it is truly the gift that keeps on giving.

Since the federal government encourages gifts to the church through tax laws, donors can benefit from substantial reductions in income and estate taxes.

What Shall I Give?

Gifts to the Endowment Fund can take many forms:

  • Personal Check

  • Transfers of funds from IRA, Bank or Credit Union.

  • Cash Securities – Appreciated stocks that have been held for the long-term capital gain period are generally deductible for full market value.

  • Real Estate – The fair market value of appreciated real estate is generally deductible in full.

  • Insurance Policies – The EF can be designated as the beneficiary of a life insurance policy.

  • Deferred Gifts – Gifts may be made in the form of a charitable trust from which the donor receives income for life, with the gift passing to the EF upon the donor’s death.

  • Bequests – Gifts may be left to the EF in a will or trust.
